Guided by the First Nations Health Plan and Tripartite First Nations Health Plan, the Aboriginal Health Branch is working collaboratively with First Nations Health Council and First Nations and Inuit Health, Health Canada to implement initiatives to close the gaps in health between First Nations and other BC residents.

First Nations Health Council
The First Nations Health Council was created in 2007 to implement the 10-year Tripartite First Nations Health Plan on behalf of BC First Nations. The Health Council is made up of representatives from the First Nations Summit, the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, and the BC Assembly of First Nations.

First Nations Leadership Council
First Nations Leadership Council is signatory to the Transformative Change Accord, Transformative Change Accord: First Nations Health Plan and Tripartite First Nations Health Plan. First Nations Leadership Council was established in March 2005 to formalize a cooperative working relationship to advance the interests of First Nations in BC among the following three organizations:

First Nations Summit
The First Nations Summit is comprised of a majority of First Nations and Tribal Councils in B.C. and provides a forum for First Nations to address issues related to Treaty negotiations as well as other issues of common concern.

Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs
Supports the work of Aboriginal people at the community, national and international level to obtain recognition of their Aboriginal rights and respect for their cultures and societies.

BC Assembly of First Nations
The BC Assembly of First Nations represents the 203 First Nations in British Columbia and is a regional arm of the National Assembly of First Nations. BCAFN works to establish meaningful participatory relationships with provincial and federal governments and with industry.

First Nations and Inuit Health, Health Canada
First Nations and Inuit Health works together with First Nations and Inuit organizations and communities to help their people stay healthy, and prevent chronic and contagious diseases.
