Research Data Requests
Academic researchers can request access to data held in the BC Linked Health Database (BCLHD), located at the Centre for Health Services and Policy Research (CHSPR) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). CHSPR is contracted to the Ministry of Health to maintain the BCLHD. CHSPR assists researchers with completing successful cohort definitions and applications for data. CHSPR also works with the Ministry to conduct secure, privacy-conscious data linkage strategies and the provision of de-identified datasets.
- All researchers must complete a Data Access Request (DAR)
- All researchers must enter a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) with the Ministry prior to the release of health data
- The Data Access Request (DAR) is available via the CHSPR website
Once a DAR has been submitted to the Ministry, the Applicant will receive a Ministry-generated project tracking number. Applicants can use the project tracking number to monitor the approval stages of their request on the Data Request Status site.
Health Data Access Services
Health care partners may request access to online services or they can request access to data for providing therapeutic treatment or care to patients or facilitating the provision of publicly funded health care services.
