Continuing Competence for IV Endorsement

If you have an IV endorsement, section 18 of the EMA Regulation requires that you complete and report at least 15 successful starts each year for five consecutive years and three starts each year thereafter.

Failure to comply with the regulation may result in further terms and conditions being imposed on your licence.

Exceptions:  You do not have to meet and report the IV endorsement maintenance requirements if one of the following applies to you:

  • You were issued an initial IV endorsement during the reporting period.
  • You successfully completed a continuing competence IV endorsement practical examination during the reporting period.

Key Definition

IV start means a successful initiation of a peripheral intravenous line.

Study the IV starts policy for further details. Starts that are outside the policy will not be accepted.
