Licensed Elsewhere in Canada
If you hold a valid EMA licence in another province or territory, you can get a licence in B.C. without further assessment, training or experience requirements.
The Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) Tool can assist you to compare British Columbia’s licence levels with the licence levels in your home province or territory. Use this tool to help you understand what licence level you qualify for and what endorsements or restrictions may be applied to your licence.
Applying for a Licence in British Columbia
To apply for a licence in B.C., follow these steps:
- Complete all the required forms.
- E-mail a digital colour photo that is less than one year old to speciallicenses@gov.bc.ca with your full name in the subject line. Printed photos can be mailed to the EMA Licensing Branch office.
- Successfully complete the Jurisprudence examination.
Once we have received all of the above documentation, we will issue you, by e-mail, a user id and a password for the Jurisprudence exam.
Important Things to Know
- You have one week to complete the Jurisprudence examination once you have received your user id and your password.
- We recommend you review the Jurisprudence Preparatory Manual before you take your exam.
