Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board
Applying for Licensure in British Columbia – Complete a Paramedic Training program outside of B.C. but no license is currently held.
ONCE YOUR APPLICATION PACKAGE HAS BEEN RECEIVED
Once all your forms and transcripts are received in this office, they will be reviewed by Branch staff to determine what level your training is equivalent to in British Columbia. You will then be sent a study package and further information on your evaluation requirements.
Your licensing evaluation fees are payable at this time.
The license levels in B.C. are Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). We also have specialized licenses for infant transport.
PLEASE NOTE:
- If your evaluation process is not complete within six months of your original application to the EMA Licensing Board, an updated Professional Experience Record Form is required.
- To access the booking forms and the applicant guide as referred to on the Evaluation information pages, a userid and password are required, please contact the EMA Licensing Branch office for information on how to obtain a userid.

- All licensing exams for out of province and international applicants consist of three components: a written exam, a practical evaluation and the B.C. jurisprudence online exam. The written exam must be successfully completed prior to being permitted to book the practical evaluation. The jurisprudence exam can be completed at any point during the process.
- All required fees must be received by the Branch before an evaluation can be booked.
If all forms and fees have been completed and submitted, and your equivalent license level has been determined, you are eligible to book your evaluations.
