Getting your Training in British Columbia
Board Approved Courses and Training Programs
You need to complete a training program recognized by the EMA Licensing Board and become certified before applying for your EMA licence or endorsement in B.C.
To get your training, directly contact one of the eight training agencies recognized by the board to enrol in the program of your choice. Use the table below to find a training agency and program.
Training programs at the PCP level or higher must be accredited or be in the process of accreditation by the Canadian Medical Association before the EMA Licensing Board will consider them for approval. See the Curriculum Review Process for more information.
Student Licence
All PCP, ACP, CCP and ITT training include at least one practicum. Students need a licence in order to participate in the practicum.
Your training agency will apply for your student licence. However, it is your responsibility to carry your student licence at all times during your practicum experience.
You are only allowed to perform the skills and procedures that have been taught during your training. In addition, you are not allowed to practice outside the training environment.
