Emergency Management TrainingTrained individuals and organizations help minimize the impact of emergencies and ensure a more effective response system overall. Training may be done on an individual basis through workshops, seminars and courses, or collectively through exercises and other team activities. The Justice Institute of BCThe Justice Institute of BC provides a wide range of emergency preparedness courses, some of which are available on-line through their Emergency Management Division. The Institute has developed a series of courses in Emergency Management, both at the Introductory Trainer and Executive levels. This program is being developed into a comprehensive emergency management training and continuing education program for the BC health sector, consistent with the integrated provincial response system and national training guidelines. The Institute also provides education in Emergency Social Services, in conjunction with the Provincial Emergency Program. Some examples of these courses include:
Exercises validate the training and planning processes and are an integral part of Emergency Management. The Ministry will, in principle, conduct or sponsor at least one government-emergency exercise annually in conjunction with the Regional Health Authorities.
