Community Care Services
Group Homes
Group homes are private residences that enable adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible in
the community. They offer an important service to residents because they provide short- and long-term living
arrangements, affordable and safe housing, skills training, peer support and counselling.
Many British Columbia communities have group homes, which are generally operated by non-profit societies. Homes
range from single family dwellings to apartment complexes and usually accommodate four to six residents.
