Legislation and Professional Regulation

Welcome to the Legislation and Professional Regulation home page. Here you will find information regarding the legislative mandate of the Ministry and recent developments in the area of professional regulation.

Professional Regulation

Professional regulatory bodies have been delegated the authority to govern professional practice of their members in the public interest. One of their key functions is to ensure members practise competently and ethically. All regulatory bodies administer public complaint processes. More information about the roles and responsibilities of the professional regulatory bodies and how to make a complaint about a member of a regulated health profession can be obtained from the pamphlet "Your Assurance of Competent, Ethical Health Care", available from the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. This is a document prepared by BC's Health Regulatory Organizations.

British Columbia's health profession regulatory framework is undergoing significant reform.

The Ministry has prepared an unofficial consolidation of the Health Professions Act.
