PodiatryThe British Columbia Association of Podiatrists is the regulatory body established for the health profession of podiatry. The Board of Examiners in Podiatry determines whether or not a person may be registered as a podiatrist and member of the Association. The Association and the Board of Examiners are established under the Podiatrists Act. The composition of the Board of Examiners is:
Transition of Podiatry to the Health Professions Act Repeal of the Podiatrists Act is provided for in the Health Professions Amendment Act, 2003. Podiatry will become regulated under the Health Professions Act.
Amendments to the rules (formerly regulations) of the Board of Examiners do not come into force until approved by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. By policy, rule amendments are subject to a mandatory three-month notice period, unless the Minister specifies a shorter period. The Board of Examiners is responsible for giving notice of proposed rule amendments, including posting them on a public website. The full text of the current rules and information about any proposed rule amendments may be obtained by contacting the Board of Examiners. Comments on proposed rule amendments should be submitted to both the Board of Examiners and the Ministry.
