BC Midwifery Program
Midwifery services are a benefit under the BC Midwifery Program for eligible British Columbia (B.C.) residents enrolled with MSP.
Midwives in B.C. offer primary health care to healthy pregnant women and their newborn babies from early pregnancy, through labour and birth, and up to six weeks postpartum.
The BC Midwifery Program is funded by the Ministry of Health. The College of Midwives of British Columbia is the regulatory body for the profession of midwifery in B.C. and is there to protect the interests of the public. Midwives practicing midwifery in B.C. must be registered with the College and with the Midwives Association of B.C.
For more information about midwifery services in B.C., visit the Midwives Association of B.C. web site. Any B.C. resident interested in midwifery care can visit the College of Midwives web site, under Find a Midwife, to see a List of Registrants (includes their location and telephone number).
