Frequently Asked Questions about MSP Group Accounts

I'd like information on setting up an MSP group plan for employees - how do I request this?

Please go to New Company Information/Third Party Registration.

We sent in an application/change form that hasn't been processed yet - do you have it?

MSP can confirm, in most cases, whether an unprocessed application or change form has been received. It is a good idea, however, to keep a copy of any forms you send to MSP for your reference.

It can be frustrating waiting for paperwork to be processed - is there an alternative?

Yes. MSP Direct is an online business service that allows group plan administrators to do adjustments to accounts through electronic rather than paper processes. This reduces turn-around times from weeks to seconds and keeps premium billings current. For additional information, see MSP Direct.

We asked to have an employee's account cancelled May 31 - why did MSP cancel June 30?

Credits for retroactive cancellations are allowed up to a maximum of two months from the date the request for cancellation of coverage is received in our office. For example, if a notice of cancellation is received anytime in August, MSP can cancel back to June 30, if this cancel date is requested.

MSP will consider cancelling at an earlier date if an employee has duplicate coverage - generally back to when the duplication began. Also, if a former employee is covered by another province's plan, MSP will cancel back to the start date of the new coverage if you provide a letter from that plan confirming the effective date.

Our last payment was made on time. Why is interest being charged on the invoice MSP just issued?

MSP premium billing is administered by the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue, through Revenue Services of British Columbia. See the information on that Ministry's web site under Interest Charge.

Can we pay premiums by pre-authorized bank debits or by credit card?

Not at this time. Payment can be made by telephone or computer banking. For details, see the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue's web site under Telephone or Internet Banking.
