'UPDATE' - Enhancements to Locum Programs

The Ministry of Health and the British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA) are pleased to announce changes to strengthen the Rural GP Locum Program (RGPLP) and the Rural Specialist Locum Program (RSLP). These changes are being made based upon the recommendation of the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC).

The RSLP supports health authorities to recruit specialists in designated or eligible communities. The program pays the locum physician a guaranteed daily amount and travel time honorarium. Each host physician, through their health authority, must submit a request form to Rural Practice Programs, Ministry of Health, for consideration.
