Pharmacy and Medical Supplier access to PharmaNet

All community pharmacies in B.C. are required to connect to PharmaNet. Other health suppliers, such as prosthetic, orthotic and ostomy suppliers, are urged to connect to PharmaNet to simplify their claims procedures and improve customer service. For pharmacies the first point of contact is the College of Pharmacists of B.C. All other suppliers should contact Health Insurance BC.

Emergency Department Access to PharmaNet (EDAP)—permits authorized individuals in hospital emergency departments, and diagnostic and treatment centres, to access patient medication profiles to assist in determining patient therapy in a timely and secure manner. Medical Practice Access to PharmaNet (MPAP)—allows authorized medical practitioners to request and receive up-to-date records of medications dispensed to a patient—in a timely and secure manner—at each registered medical practice. Hospital Access to PharmaNet (HAP)—allows authorized health professionals access to patient medication histories from a hospital or designated mental health facility.
