How many older people are there in B.C.?

  • B.C. has the third largest population of older people of the Canadian provinces and territories. An estimated 618,000 British Columbians were 65 or older in 2007. (1)
  • In 2007, just over 14% of B.C.’s population were 65 or older and this percentage is rising.  By 2031 this proportion will be nearly 24%. (2)
