Life expectancy for older people in B.C continues to rise.
- In 1950, the average was just 68.75 years (life expectancy for persons born in 1950). (3)
- Between 2003 and 2007, it was 81.1 years (life expectancy at birth for persons born between 2003 and 2007). (4)
- An older person in B.C. in 2005 could expect to live 20.3 more years, the longest life expectancy in Canada. (5)
- Richmond Health Service Delivery Area (Vancouver Coastal Health Authority) reports that average life expectancy at birth, for those born in that area between 2003 and 2007, was 84.7 years. (4)
